Nitrosend vs Emarsys.

Built for email, agent-native, unlimited contacts, and a price published at every rung.

TL;DR

Emarsys is an enterprise engagement platform, renamed SAP Engagement Cloud in February 2026. Ten channels sit on one contact record with SAP's CDP underneath, and it's sold to retail and consumer brands through a demo, a quote, and an implementation. If your program runs across most of those channels, the platform is the argument, and it's a real one.

Nitrosend specializes in email, and it's bought the other way round. The price is published at every rung, contacts are unlimited on every plan including Free, and every capability is an email API endpoint and an MCP tool before it's a screen. Transactional email sits in the same product rather than behind a separate contract. Emarsys has shipped real AI of its own: Joule for natural-language campaign management, an AI report builder, and a content composer built on Gemini models. The difference is what each platform was built over, and what it costs you to find out. Buyers who end up sizing down from an enterprise suite usually read the Encharge comparison, the Flodesk one, and the GetResponse one next, and the full comparison index holds the rest.

Pricing math

What you actually pay.

Our ladder is published in USD and billed monthly. Emarsys prices each customer through SAP sales rather than from a rate card, and the public ladder is by edition rather than by volume, with an enterprise edition above the base one. The right-hand column names the route in rather than a number.

Migration

How to switch (or run both).

Emarsys keeps sending while you move, and the SMS, mobile app, in-store, and contact center work stays exactly where it is.

  1. Add and verify your sending domain in Nitrosend. DKIM and SPF records sit alongside Emarsys's, so both platforms send from the same domain for as long as the overlap lasts.
  2. Export your contacts while the account is still live. Take the fields, the custom attributes, and the list or segment membership, then import them with nitro_import_contacts. Attributes map onto custom fields and lists map onto lists, so the shape survives the trip.
  3. Start with one low-stakes message type: a receipt or a password reset, sent with nitro_send_message. Watch it for a week before a campaign follows it.
  4. Rebuild the Automation Center programs as flows with nitro_compose_flow. The triggers have equivalents on both sides: contact added, attribute changed, and event fired. What doesn't travel is the multichannel half, so decide what stays on Emarsys before you rebuild rather than after.
  5. Decide what carries your reputation. BYO sending keys on Pro and above route mail through Amazon SES, Resend, Postmark, Mailgun, or SendGrid, on the domain you already warmed. Emarsys sends through its own infrastructure and isn't one of those five, so what travels with you is the domain and its authentication history.
Honest credit

What Emarsys does well.

Picking a tool is about fit. Here's what Emarsys is genuinely good at.

  • Ten channels against one contact record: email, web, digital ads, SMS, mobile wallet, mobile app, conversational messaging, direct mail, in-store, and contact center.
  • SAP's CDP audience builder is generally available inside the platform, so segmentation runs against the customer data rather than in a second tool.
  • Joule brings natural-language campaign management: list the campaigns that ran during a named promotion from a prompt, then duplicate one.
  • An AI-assisted report builder that's generally available, and it now covers mobile app and push analytics.
  • An AI content composer in early access, generating images and copy inside an email block, built on Google's Gemini models.
  • Conversational depth well past the email channel: WhatsApp keyword triggers and unsubscribe handling, LINE audience automation generally available, and RCS through Infobip, Sinch, or Vonage in early access.
  • One SDK across Android, iOS, and web in early access, collecting first-party data without cookies.
  • The enterprise edition adds administration, governance, and content and data controls for teams running multiple brands and regions.
What Nitrosend adds

Where we think we're better.

  • Contacts are unlimited on every plan, including Free, so a list that grows without being mailed never moves the bill.
  • Every rung of our price is published, including 500,000 to over 4,000,000 emails a month, where the number for that volume otherwise arrives in a quote.
  • MCP-first is an architecture, not an integration: every capability here is an API endpoint and an MCP tool before it's a screen.
  • Emarsys's agent capability is an early adopter feature of the enterprise edition, and today it finds and duplicates campaigns from a prompt rather than running the platform. Ours runs the platform, on the Free plan.
  • Zapier's MCP server for Emarsys exposes five actions rather than the platform: a trigger, an external event, and contact create, find, and find-or-create. Ours exposes the whole product.
  • The difference shows at the edges: deliverability, billing, tests, and approvals are tools here, and they're the four that usually stop an automation dead.
  • BYO sending keys on Pro and above route mail through Amazon SES, Resend, Postmark, Mailgun, or SendGrid, which is what makes the move reversible.
Use case fit

When to pick which.

Pick Emarsys if

Your program runs across most of those ten channels and you want them against one contact record. The same goes if you're already an SAP estate and want engagement inside it, which isn't a decision an email platform gets to win, or if you need a CDP holding behavioral and transactional data rather than a list. Procurement expecting a contract, an account team, and a named implementation partner points the same way. None of those are close calls.

Pick Nitrosend if

Email is the channel your program actually runs on, and you'd rather read the price before a sales call and start the same afternoon. It's the right call too when your list is much larger than your send volume and you're tired of paying for addresses you don't mail, or when you want the platform to answer to an agent end to end, including the deliverability, billing, testing, and approval steps that usually send someone back to a dashboard.

FAQ

Emarsys vs Nitrosend - common questions.

Can Nitrosend replace Emarsys?

For the email half, yes. Campaigns, flows, segments, templates, contacts, and transactional sending are all here, and transactional isn't a separate product with a separate bill. The rest of Emarsys is the rest of Emarsys: the other nine channels, the CDP under them, and the in-store and contact center work either stay where they are or leave with the contract. Teams that split the stack usually keep email here and decide the multichannel question separately.

How much does Emarsys cost?

It's quoted rather than published. Emarsys is sold through SAP sales with no free tier and no self-serve signup, and the ladder that's public is by edition rather than by volume, with an enterprise edition above the base one. The number you end up with is the one you negotiate. Ours is published at every rung, starting free and running to $300 for 500,000 to over 4,000,000 emails a month.

Does the SAP Engagement Cloud rename change what I'm buying?

SAP renamed the product in February 2026 and put the newer capabilities on an enterprise edition above the base one. Nothing you already use goes away. What changed is that the edition line now decides what you get, so check which one your renewal is for before you sign it.

What is different about an MCP-first platform if Emarsys already has AI?

Order of construction, and what it reaches. Joule with SAP Engagement Cloud is natural-language campaign management, currently an early adopter capability on the enterprise edition, and what it does today is find and duplicate campaigns from a prompt. Nitrosend was endpoints and MCP tools before it was screens, so the test is the edges: deliverability, billing, tests, and approvals are tools here, and they're the four that usually stop an automation dead.
