Nitrosend vs Zoho.

Built for email, priced on sends not contacts, agent-native, and BYO-capable.

TL;DR

Zoho is a suite, so a comparison has to say which product it means. Zoho Campaigns is the email marketing product inside it, and ZeptoMail is a separate transactional email product beside that, so email at Zoho is two products on two bills. Campaigns prices on contacts stored and leaves sends unmetered, which is the opposite axis to most of the category. If the rest of your business already runs on Zoho, the bundle is the argument, and it's a good one.

Nitrosend is an AI-native email platform, not a suite, and it specializes in email. Campaigns, flows, segments, templates, contacts, and transactional sending are one product on one bill, contacts are unlimited on every plan including Free, and BYO sending keys on Pro and above keep the transport where you want it. Zoho ships a real MCP server, and it's broad. What it doesn't reach is the send, which here is the email API the MCP tools call. The comparison index covers the specialists worth weighing against a suite.

Pricing math

What you actually pay.

The two ladders bill on different things. Zoho Campaigns charges for contacts held and leaves sends unmetered inside the tier; Nitrosend charges for emails sent and leaves contacts unlimited. ZeptoMail's transactional credits are a second, separate bill on the Zoho side.

Migration

How to switch (or run both).

Zoho keeps sending while you move, and Zoho CRM, Desk, Books, and Mail stay exactly where they are.

  1. Add and verify your sending domain in Nitrosend. DKIM and SPF records sit alongside Zoho's, so both platforms send from the same domain for as long as the overlap lasts.
  2. Export your contacts from Zoho Campaigns with their custom fields and import them with nitro_import_contacts. Campaigns lists map onto lists and the fields survive the trip. If the list is synced from Zoho CRM, decide which system stays the record of truth before you import.
  3. Move one low-stakes message type first: a receipt or a password reset currently going through ZeptoMail, sent with nitro_send_message. The transactional half moves separately because ZeptoMail is its own product, which makes it the cheapest first move. Run the balance down during the overlap, because unused ZeptoMail credits aren't refunded on cancellation. Watch it for a week before a campaign follows it.
  4. Rebuild workflows as flows with nitro_compose_flow. The triggers have equivalents on both sides: contact added, field changed, and event fired.
  5. Decide what carries your reputation. BYO sending keys on Pro and above route mail through Amazon SES, Resend, Postmark, Mailgun, or SendGrid, and ZeptoMail isn't one of them, so a sender leaving Zoho's pool is warming a new path either way. What travels with you is the domain and its authentication history.
Honest credit

What Zoho does well.

Picking a tool is about fit. Here's what Zoho is genuinely good at.

  • A forever free plan a real sender can live on: 2,000 contacts, 6,000 emails a month, and five users.
  • Paid plans price on contacts held and leave sends unmetered, so mailing a small list weekly costs the same as mailing it twice a year.
  • Standard opens around $4 a month at 500 contacts, with 25% off for annual billing.
  • Seats are generous where seats usually meter: five users on Free, ten on Standard, and twenty on Professional.
  • Contacts sync with Zoho CRM, so the marketing list and the sales record are one record with no integration to maintain.
  • ZeptoMail is a real transactional product with an SMTP relay and a REST API, priced per credit with no monthly floor.
  • A pay-as-you-go rung sits beside the subscriptions, which suits a sender who mails in bursts.
  • An official MCP server covering Zoho CRM, Mail, Calendar, Desk, Cliq, Projects, WorkDrive, Books, Billing, Expense, People, Creator, Survey, Apptics, and Bigin.
  • Zoho's MCP server writes as well as it reads, so an agent can create a lead, mark a deal won, or raise an invoice.
  • Zoho Mail sits on the MCP app list too, and hosting a mailbox isn't something a sender-side platform does.
What Nitrosend adds

Where we think we're better.

  • Unlimited contacts on every plan, including Free, so a list that grows without being mailed never moves the bill.
  • Zoho's axis is the other way round: its bill follows what you store, ours follows what you send.
  • Campaigns, flows, segments, templates, contacts, and transactional sending are one product on one bill, rather than Campaigns plus ZeptoMail plus a Marketing Automation upsell above them.
  • MCP-first is an architecture, not an integration: every capability at Nitrosend is an API endpoint and an MCP tool before it's a screen.
  • Zoho's MCP covers the business apps around the send, and Campaigns, Marketing Automation, and ZeptoMail aren't named on its published app list.
  • An agent on Zoho's MCP surface runs the CRM and the books, and then stops at the send.
  • The difference shows at the edges: deliverability, billing, tests, and approvals are tools here, and they're the four that usually stop an automation dead.
  • BYO sending keys on Pro and above route your mail through Amazon SES, Resend, Postmark, Mailgun, or SendGrid, on the domain and IP you already warmed.
  • BYO keys make the move reversible, where switching platforms otherwise means switching sending reputation on the same day, when the two failures look identical.
  • One product, sender-side, with no CRM, help desk, or accounting suite competing for the same roadmap.
Use case fit

When to pick which.

Pick Zoho if

The rest of your business already runs on Zoho and you want the list on the same record as the CRM, the help desk, and the books, with nothing to integrate. The same call holds when your send volume is large against a small list, because unmetered sends on a contact-priced plan are the cheapest shape of bill for that sender. A mailbox is the third case, and Zoho Mail hosts one. None of those is a close call.

Pick Nitrosend if

Email is the channel your program runs on and your list is much larger than your send volume, so you're tired of paying for addresses you don't mail. It's the right call too when you want marketing and transactional on one bill instead of two products on two, or when you want the platform to answer to an agent end to end, including the billing, testing, and approval steps that usually send someone back to a dashboard. Shortlists at this point usually also carry ActiveCampaign for the automation, ActiveTrail for the price, and AhaSend for the transactional stream.

FAQ

Zoho vs Nitrosend - common questions.

Can Nitrosend replace Zoho Campaigns?

For the email half, yes. Campaigns, flows, segments, templates, contacts, and transactional sending are all here, and transactional isn't a separate product on a separate bill the way ZeptoMail is. Zoho keeps the suite it was built for, so Zoho CRM, Desk, Books, and Mail either stay where they are or move somewhere else on their own schedule.

Is Nitrosend cheaper than Zoho?

It depends which axis you're on. Zoho is cheap for a heavy sender to a small list, because sends are unmetered and the bill follows contacts: Standard opens around $4 a month at 500 contacts and runs about $49 at 10,000. Nitrosend is cheaper when the list is large relative to what you mail, because contacts are unlimited and the bill follows sends, so $100 Ultra carries 125,000 emails a month at any list size.

Zoho has an MCP server. What's actually different?

Zoho's is broad, it writes as well as it reads, and it covers the business apps: CRM, Mail, Books, Desk, and the rest. The difference is what each one was built over. Nitrosend was built API-and-tool-first, so every capability is a tool before it's a screen, and Zoho Campaigns, Zoho Marketing Automation, and ZeptoMail aren't named on Zoho's published MCP app list.

Can I keep Zoho CRM and move just the email?

Yes. Both platforms authenticate against the same domain, so you move one message type at a time and leave the rest sending. Zoho CRM stays where it is, and what changes is which platform sends. What you can't do is point Nitrosend at ZeptoMail as a transport, because BYO sending keys cover Amazon SES, Resend, Postmark, Mailgun, and SendGrid.
