The 5 best email marketing agencies in Chicago in 2026

An email marketing agency in Chicago is a firm you hire to run the messages a brand sends its own list: the welcome series, the abandoned cart, the winback, the Tuesday promotion, and the deliverability work underneath all of it. The five best email marketing agencies in Chicago are ranked below, scored out of 40 on specialization, AI capability, published evidence and a real team in the metro. Every person is named from their own profile, every AI claim links to the page or post it came from, and the nineteen firms that came through the research and did not earn a ranked place are named further down with the reason. Published prices in this city run from $399 to $10,000 a month, four firms print a number, and all four numbers are set out below.

Five, not ten, and the reason is the most useful thing on this page. Fifty-three Chicago agencies went into the research. Thirty-five state a Chicago office or team, and fourteen carry email or retention as a core service. Then the two halves refuse to meet. Chicago's three genuine email specialists, Forge Digital Marketing, Westfield Creative and Bobber, publish no AI claim of any kind, and the firms with real AI are full-service shops carrying email among a dozen or twenty services. I have been doing email for a decade and my companies have sent over 6 billion emails, and this is the first city in this research where not one email-led firm clears the floor. I could have filled slots six through ten with Chicago agencies that list email seventh on a menu. The page would have been longer and worse.

I scored the evidence behind each AI claim rather than the claim, because AI doesn't actually know email marketing. It confidently makes things up, from generic, unsourced welcome sequences to hallucinations about deliverability. Most of the tools underneath all this are still dashboards with AI bolted on. So a banner counts for nothing here. What counts is a named tool, a named workflow, a case study with a number, or a person whose own profile describes the work.

1. Brafton

Best for
Email inside a content operation
Founded
2008
Location
A Chicago office on North State Street and more than 160 Chicago-area clients claimed, with every senior profile found in Boston, London, Sydney or Mexico
ESP
HubSpot Platinum Solutions Partner, Pardot, Marketo, ActiveCampaign, AWeber
AI stack
Brafton AI Studio, contentmarketing.ai, the firm's own platform, Eight named specialist agents with a human Subject Matter Editor as the final gate
Specialization6/10
AI capability9/10

City presence4/10
Total28/40

The AI here is the production model, not a service line. Brafton AI Studio runs on contentmarketing.ai, its own platform, configured to your brand voice and compliance standards before a word is written, with eight named specialist agents and a Brafton-trained Subject Matter Editor every piece passes through. For my own campaigns the agent drafts, I edit ten percent of the words, and the agent schedules the send.

Email is four service pages here, not a bullet, on HubSpot, Pardot and Marketo behind a HubSpot Platinum practice, and the proof shelf here is the deepest: eight blogs earned Beca 31 AI Overview citations, and On Call International 448 percent ROI. The Chicago caveat costs six points: 160 Chicago-area clients are claimed, no Chicago person surfaced, and the AI Studio page lists its offices as Boston, London, Sydney, Toronto and Berlin.

Take it when email is one output of a content operation and you want the AI work shown, staffed and gated rather than claimed.

2. Comrade

Comrade

Best for
Email under a local search program
Founded

Location
A Michigan Avenue office with the co-founder chief executive and two directors in Greater Chicago, plus offices in Miami and Austin
AI stack
AI Grader, the firm's own visibility tool, Growth Portal with AI channel attribution, Weekly citation tracking across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Copilot
Specialization4/10
AI capability8/10

Total27/40

Comrade has built more AI than anyone else ranked, and it measures it weekly. AI Grader is its own tool, checking whether ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI name your business for the keywords your customers use, and the paid engagement runs a query set across five answer engines every week, tracking citation frequency, position, accuracy and share of voice into a per-platform score, with a dedicated AI Strategist on the account. I had an onboarding where a user said she asked ChatGPT who to use and it recommended us, so this is not a theoretical channel.

Email has its own Chicago page and seventeen years behind it, but it is absent from the service nav and none of the published results are email results. The firm has been at 332 S Michigan Avenue since 2008, and it prints its packages, which almost nobody here does.

Take it when the email is the follow-up under a local search program and you want the AI search work measured weekly rather than asserted.

3. Logical Media Group

Location
Founded in Chicago's Ukrainian Village in 2006, Chicago office kept under a permanent remote model, with the founder, a vice president and the director of strategy in Greater Chicago
ESP

AI stack
A published SEO for AI and LLMs practice, A Director of Product, Technology and AI hired from Caterpillar and Google
Specialization5/10
AI capability7/10
Evidence6/10
City presence8/10
Total26/40

The only firm ranked holding both a HubSpot Platinum and a Klaviyo partnership, with lifecycle operations published as a practice: lead scoring, routing, email nurturing and list hygiene. The Chicago email page publishes the process, from database audit through segmentation to triggered messaging, which is more than most firms here put in writing.

The AI is newer but staffed. There is a full SEO for AI and LLMs service with the method set out, and the firm hired a Director of Product, Technology and AI out of Caterpillar and Google, where her work was adoption of machine-learning Nest products. The founder publishes why the firm is investing in human creative in the age of AI. The two mistakes I see most are not sending enough email at all, and spray and pray to the whole list instead of a segment. This firm fixes the second.

Take it when the flows are wrong because the data underneath them is wrong, and you want the same Chicago team to fix both.

4. Netalico

Netalico logo4

Netalico

Mark Lewis, Founder, Netalico

Best for
Subscription retention on Klaviyo
Founded
2013
Location

AI stack
Arketica, the firm's own AI practice, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity
Specialization8/10
AI capability7/10
Evidence7/10
City presence3/10
Total25/40

The most email-specialized firm that clears the floor, with the best published retention numbers here. Oatly came out at 188 percent more monthly subscription revenue in three months and Crossrope at 90 percent more revenue with conversion up 24 percent. Klaviyo is where near-complete automation is achievable today, because of the API, the scoped keys and the full flow definitions, and this shop also owns the store code.

The AI is shipped, not announced. The agentic commerce practice handles the two-protocol reality, ACP for ChatGPT and UCP for Google, plus catalog readiness and checkout, and image generation built a launching brand's first marketing assets. Location is the weak point and costs seven points: Chicago is one of ten cities in the Where We're Located list, with no address, no Chicago person and no LinkedIn page. Netalico qualifies in New York and Miami too.

Take it for the subscription work and the published numbers, and ask where your team actually sits before you sign.

5. BRD Media

City presence7/10
Total21/40

This is the most detailed published email methodology of any agency in Chicago: the eight sequences a service business should be running, what each one recovers, the platform choice per category, and the honest line that email does not work everywhere. It is also the only firm in this city that answers whether AI should write your emails, and the answer is AI for outlines, drafts and variations, human editing for voice, every send human-reviewed. What matters is not replacing expertise, it is making the baseline higher for everyone using AI for email, and that is the position.

The reason it sits fifth is thin proof. The firm was founded in Villa Park in 2022 and Chris DeWilde is the only person named on the site. The published results are streaming audio, paid and real estate, not email.

Take it when you want someone to explain the eight sequences you are missing before they quote you, and you can live with a short proof shelf.

Also worth knowing

Nineteen firms came through the research without earning a ranked place. Naming every one with the reason is the useful part, because the reasons are the part you can check, and in Chicago three of them are more interesting than anything on the ranking.

Forge Digital Marketing is the one that hurts. Naperville, Illinois. A Klaviyo Master Gold partner and a Shopify development partner, with email and SMS stated as the core: "Email and SMS should be generating 30 to 40 percent of your store's revenue. For most DTC brands we audit, it's under 15 percent". Fourteen named clients, five case studies, six named people, and Irwin Naturals at 157 percent more attributed email revenue in thirty days. Founder Erin Schnittker Siemek has run it for twelve years from Naperville and sells Klaviyo email automation in her own profile headline. It is the strongest genuine email agency in this city and it is not ranked, because the only AI claim anywhere on its site is the phrase "an AI-driven, trust-first environment" on its Klaviyo agency page. One banner phrase is not a capability. The floor removes the best email agency in Chicago and has nobody to put in its place, and that is the price of the rule rather than an accident of it.

Westfield Creative is the second. A Mailchimp PRO Partner and Klaviyo Platinum Partner run by two sisters since 2015, doing email and nothing else, with nine named clients and published pricing from $399 a month. Emily Ryan is the creative and Elizabeth Bogh is the techie, and the small team is in Chicago, New York, Lake Tahoe and Seattle. The words AI, artificial intelligence, machine learning, GPT and LLM appear zero times across its site. The two claims a machine pass tagged as AI are four completed Intuit Mailchimp courses and building welcome sequences, and neither of those is AI.

Bobber is the third. A Chicago email production shop at 1332 N Halsted Street running since 2015, five named clients, and published numbers of a 42 percent open rate, an 8.3 percent click rate and 3.1x ROI. Same story: zero AI words on the site, and the single claim tagged as an AI service line is the sentence "strategy, design, and automation that drives real ROI", which describes ordinary flow automation.

JV Studios is excluded on delivery rather than capability. It is a genuinely Chicago firm, fifteen years old, two co-founder brothers here, with real work for Wilson Sporting Goods and the YMCA of the USA, and it publishes an email result: ASH at a 55.5 percent higher open rate. But its own email page says the work is done "by working closely with our partners at Youtech". A ranking of email agencies should not rank a firm that subcontracts the email.

Main Event Digital is excluded on product and named anyway, because it prints the most itemized email price card in the city: cold email automation at $4,650 against a $7,800 list, warm at $4,350, both together at $8,200, with three branded sending addresses and warmup, copy for three emails and up to 500 sends a weekday. That is cold outbound prospecting, which is a different discipline from lifecycle email with different domains, volumes and deliverability rules. Its only AI claim is an AI video product.

Arcalea has the deepest AI and machine learning practice in the Chicago pool by a distance. Galileo for multi-touch attribution off first-party CRM data, Compass for machine-learning search intelligence, an AEO Index tracking citations across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Copilot, and a QMA market assessment, with agentic integration sold as a service and 580 hours a month of manual work automated for one client. Chicago headquarters, founder and chief operating officer both here, a chief technology officer whose career is data science. Email marketing is not on the service menu at all, so there is nothing here to rank on an email list.

Straight North is in Downers Grove with a real Generative Engine Optimization practice and nine published case results, but email marketing appears only as one item inside Creative Services. VisualFizz has 875 North Michigan Avenue, 23 named clients and six case studies, and no email service page. Simplified Solutions has Chicago, Phoenix and Saint Louis offices and a dedicated email marketing page, and makes no AI claim anywhere: the one thing a machine pass tagged was the title of a case study about email automation for a Chicago bank. iLocalHero has a Chicago email marketing page on Lake Shore Drive with ActiveCampaign and Mailchimp behind it, zero case studies and zero named people. Xamtac Consulting has a Chicago address and an AI marketing software page that turns out to be a history of collaboration software, three clients and nobody named. MA Team is Chicago with three dedicated AI service pages, no named clients, no case studies, and staff listed by first name only. Monday Loves You is a 22-person Chicago studio whose CRM and marketing automation practice is real, but both claims tagged as AI are plain marketing automation. Solitude Marketing publishes several articles on Chicago email retention, but its AI mentions are blog headlines and it describes itself as near Oak Park without stating an office. AC Digital Design is a Northbrook email design and deployment studio on a site of about 3,400 characters, with zero named clients, zero case studies and zero named people.

Four more were excluded outright, and the shape is the same every time: a high AI claim count with nothing underneath it. BizzBuzz names six branded AI agents called Spike, Beast, Rowling, Penny, Tino and Alt, gives a Chicago address, and names no people. Running Start Digital makes nineteen strong AI claims against one client, one case study and zero named people. Sales Intellify makes seven strong claims and names five tools, four clients and nobody, and has no Illinois mention anywhere on its own site. Simple Machines Marketing makes seven strong claims and names nine tools, one client and nobody.

How to choose between them

If the brief is email and only email, the honest answer in this city is that the best three firms for it are not on the ranking. Forge Digital Marketing is the one to call if you are a DTC or supplement brand and you want a Klaviyo Master Gold partner whose published numbers are email numbers. Westfield Creative is the one to call if you want beautiful Mailchimp or Klaviyo campaigns going out reliably for a few hundred dollars a month with no contract. Bobber is the one to call if you want your email production outsourced and nothing else. None of the three will tell you anything about AI, and if that does not matter to you, stop reading here.

If it does matter, the question is which column you are paying for. Brafton is the one firm here that has rebuilt how the work gets made, and it is the right call when email is one output of a content operation that also has to win AI search. Comrade is the right call when your email is the follow-up layer under local search and you want AI visibility measured weekly instead of asserted. Logical Media Group is the right call when the flows are wrong because the CRM underneath them is wrong, and it is the only ranked firm with both HubSpot Platinum and Klaviyo behind it. Netalico is the right call for Shopify subscription retention, and the wrong call if you need your team in Chicago. BRD Media is the right call for a local practice that has a list and nothing running against it.

The question worth asking any of them is which part is automated, which part is a person, and which part is billed by the hour. Four of the firms on this page have already answered some version of it in public, and every one of those answers is quoted in full below. My own view is that the fix for mediocre AI-generated email isn't better prompts, it's better references, and an agency that will show you its references is an agency that has them.

Setup time is getting easier to check. When Nitrosend opened its agency setup I wrote on LinkedIn: "Agencies found Nitrosend before we found them." Two weeks later I wrote that one marketing platform had added five client salons: "Their agent ran the setup, the salons own their accounts." If an agency bills hours for setup, ask how many of them an agent now covers, and who owns the account at the end.

How this list is ranked

Fifty-three Chicago agencies were extracted from public sources and their own sites. Thirty-five state a Chicago office or team, fourteen carry email or retention as a core service, and Chicago-present and email-core is six. A ranked slot then needs three things: a stated Chicago-metro presence, a published email or retention practice the firm delivers itself, and at least one genuine published AI claim. Five firms clear all three.

The AI claims were read rather than counted, and reading them changed the list twice over. A machine pass on this data produced five qualifiers. Three of those five, Westfield Creative, Bobber and AC Digital Design, have no AI claim of any kind on their sites; what had been tagged as an AI service line was Mailchimp coursework, a banner sentence about automation, and a list of ESP automation recipes. Reading also moved firms in. A binary email-is-core flag scored Comrade, Logical Media Group and BRD Media as false, and each of the three publishes a real email practice, including a dedicated Chicago email page in Comrade's case that the original crawl never fetched. The count moved in both directions because the tag was wrong in both directions.

Each criterion rewards something different. Specialization rewards a firm whose service menu is messaging and little else, because craft comes from repetition. AI capability rewards published evidence of automation inside the firm's own delivery: a named tool, a named workflow, an AI role with the work described, or a case study with a number. A homepage banner scores nothing. Evidence rewards named clients, results traceable to a brand, partner tiers and awards that can be checked. City presence rewards people verifiably in the metro rather than an address, which is the criterion that separated the top of this list from the bottom. Each is scored out of 10 for a total out of 40. No third-party review score fed into any of them and none is republished here as data.

A shell test was run across the pool: a high AI claim count against zero named clients, zero case studies and zero or one named person. Chicago produced four, more than any other city in this research, and all four are named above.

Two claims were refused and do not appear above. Comrade publishes a client rating and a review count on its own site; I have not repeated either, because a rating I did not collect is not a rating I can stand behind. And Brafton's Chicago page claims more than 160 Chicago-area clients, which is reported as the firm's own claim rather than as a finding, because no Chicago client is named and no Chicago person surfaced.

How this list is ranked

I score every agency here out of 40, ten points each for specialization, AI capability, published evidence and a real Chicago team. The scores are mine, against those four criteria and nothing else. I score blind, from published evidence, before I open any customer list, so using Nitrosend is worth zero points and is disclosed on the card where it applies.

Nitrosend is the company I co-founded. It sells email infrastructure to agencies and is not an email marketing agency itself, so it does not appear on this list and could not. Nobody paid for a place here, and no place on this list is for sale.

I score AI capability because Nitrosend publishes this list and Nitrosend is built for agencies that run client email from an AI agent. That is my commercial interest and you should read the list knowing it. An agency that adds real AI capability will score higher here the next time I check this page, and Nitrosend for agencies is one way to do that and not the only one. I score claims on evidence rather than on banners: a named tool, a named workflow, a case study with a result, or an AI role on the team page. Every AI claim here links to its source.

The scoring is positive only: a lower score means less specialized for this brief, never a worse agency, and all 5 entries say what that firm is genuinely best at.

This list is five and not ten because five Chicago agencies earned a ranked place. Fifty-three went into the research, thirty-five state a Chicago office or team, and fourteen carry email or retention as a core service. The reason the number is small is specific to this city and it is stated in full above: Chicago's three genuine email specialists publish no AI claim at all, and the firms with real AI are full-service shops carrying email among a dozen services. The top three sit inside two points of each other, Brafton on 28, Comrade on 27 and Logical Media Group on 26, and they earn those points in different columns. Brafton has rebuilt production around AI and has the deepest proof shelf. Comrade has built its own AI tooling and measures it weekly. Logical holds the ESP partnerships and publishes an email process. That order is what the rubric produced and the gaps inside it are not meaningful, so read the columns rather than the ranks. For an email-only brief Logical is the better pick of the three and the page says so. One thing to know while you read my scores: Nitrosend is the company I co-founded, it publishes this page, and it sells email infrastructure to agencies. Nobody paid to be here and there is no entry to buy.

Chicago email marketing agencies, scored out of 40. Scored September 23, 2026.

If you are an agency reading your own entry and you want the AI score to move, the thing that moves it is published evidence: one named workflow, one case study with a number, one role on the team page with the work actually described. Three of the best email agencies in this city are unranked for want of a single one of those. What I would want instead of an email tool with AI added on is full-stack email automation running inside your AI agent, with human approval gates. Nitrosend for agencies is one way to get there, an email platform you control entirely from Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT, transactional, campaigns and automations, all from one MCP command, and what comes out the other side is a workflow you can point at. It is one way and not the only one.

FAQ

Brafton, at 28 out of 40, because it is the only Chicago-present firm that has rebuilt production around AI and still puts a named human editor on the last gate, and it carries the deepest proof shelf on the page. Three briefs change that answer. If the brief is Shopify subscription retention, it is Netalico and it is not close. If the flows are broken because the CRM is broken, it is Logical Media Group. And if you do not care about AI at all, the best email agency in this city is Forge Digital Marketing, which is unranked here for exactly that reason and named in full above.

Because five earned a place. Thirty-five of the fifty-three agencies in the research state a Chicago office or team and fourteen carry email or retention as a core service, but the city's three real email specialists, Forge Digital Marketing, Westfield Creative and Bobber, publish no AI claim at all, and the AI floor is a published AI claim. The firms that do clear the floor are full-service shops carrying email among twelve to twenty services. That is a genuine finding about this market rather than a sourcing problem: the shortlist was widened from 45 to 58 firms mid-research, including two Chicago agencies with dedicated email pages ranking page one for the head term, and the thirteen added firms produced zero extra qualifiers. All nineteen firms that missed the ranking are named above with the reason.

Between $399 and $10,000 a month for managed monthly service, and Chicago is the only city in this research where both ends of that range are published rather than quoted on a call. Here is every number and where it comes from. At the bottom, Westfield Creative publishes monthly email marketing packages starting at $399 a month for one campaign a month, with no long-term contract, which buys planning, design, formatting, testing and scheduling from a two-person Mailchimp and Klaviyo shop. In the middle, Comrade publishes three monthly packages at $4,000, $5,500 and $7,000, and prints what each buys: 4,000, 6,000 or 10,000 words a month and one, two or four hours of consulting, across a full digital program rather than email alone. Main Event Digital prices the work as products: cold email automation at $4,650 against a $7,800 list price, warm email automation at $4,350, both together at $8,200, each including onboarding, strategy, three branded email addresses with warmup, copywriting for three emails, workflow build and A/B testing, at up to 500 sends a weekday, cancellable on 14 days notice. At the top, Netalico prices retainers in hours: 30 a month at $5,100, 45 at $7,500 and 60 at $10,000, with hourly work from $185 down to $165 above 100 hours, on a ladder covering its Shopify work rather than email alone.

Three things move a quote inside that band. Hours are the first, which is why Netalico prices 30, 45 and 60 of them rather than a package, and why Comrade prints word counts next to its tiers. Seniority is the second, and Chicago is an expensive city for it: Robert Half's 2026 guide puts an email marketing specialist in Chicago at $65,625 at the low end, $81,563 in the middle and $94,063 at the high end, an email marketing manager at $87,813 to $133,438, and a marketing automation specialist at $88,125 to $121,563. A firm putting a senior Chicago person on your account cannot do it for $399, and the $399 tier is honest about what it is: one campaign a month, designed and sent. The third is what you are being billed for, hours or output, and the four price cards above split evenly between the two.

Then budget the platform separately, because it is your bill and not the agency's. Klaviyo's own partner page puts the ratio at one dollar of Klaviyo subscription to at least three dollars of implementation, strategy and managed services, which puts a brand paying $500 a month for Klaviyo at roughly $1,500 a month of services around it. For anyone with decent dev resources, your own Mailgun or SES plus a lightweight automation layer can cut costs by 70 to 80 percent at scale. And if you are already on a platform, switches usually happen at the annual renewal, when a brand works out it is paying more because of all this other data on top, so that is the moment to price the whole stack rather than the retainer alone.

Because the mechanical half of email production is the expensive half, and the firms that have automated it can put their people on the work that needs people. It is also the easiest claim to fake, which is why every AI point on this page links to a named tool, a named workflow, a published result or a named person's profile, and why three of the five machine-counted qualifiers for this city lost their place once I read their claims. Nitrosend publishes this list, I co-founded it, and it is built for agencies running client email from an AI agent, so I am stating that interest rather than hiding it.

Neither can be bought and neither is self-declared, which is why a tier feeds the evidence score here and never the AI score: a tier measures training and managed revenue rather than anything automated. Klaviyo's top tier is not applied for at all. Klaviyo's own announcement of its Elite Master tier says partners are nominated by their Partner Manager and their Partner Success Manager against quantitative requirements first, then put through a formal review against the qualitative ones, and names what is reviewed: ongoing open collaboration, relevant certifications, client health and net promoter scores, adoption of new product lines and features, and reputation in the partner community. Klaviyo's partner agreement adds that a partner must complete mandatory training and certification both in selling Klaviyo and in managing and supporting Klaviyo customers, and keeps the tier requirements themselves in a partner program guide rather than in the public terms. On this page Brafton holds HubSpot Platinum Solutions Partner, Logical Media Group holds HubSpot Platinum and a Klaviyo partnership, Netalico states Klaviyo, and the highest Klaviyo tier anywhere in the Chicago research is Forge Digital Marketing's Master Gold, which is unranked.

Three things, and all three show in how these firms now sell. The platform absorbed the first hour of the work: Klaviyo, which reports 193,000 paying customers, announced Composer and an expanded Customer Agent on March 24, 2026, generating launch-ready campaigns and flows from a plain-language prompt, with co-founder Andrew Bialecki putting it as the execution layer in software moving from humans to agents. Audit, flow buildout and segmentation is exactly what an entry retainer has historically bought. Deliverability got stricter in the same window: Microsoft now requires SPF, DKIM and DMARC from any domain sending more than 5,000 messages a day into Outlook, routing non-compliant mail to Junk first and rejecting it if the problem is not fixed, matching the 5,000 a day threshold in Gmail's own sender guidelines, where SPF, DKIM and DMARC are required and reported spam has to stay under 0.30 percent, which turns authentication into a standing retainer line rather than a one-off. And search stopped being the only front door: Comrade now runs a weekly citation check across five answer engines as a paid deliverable, and Brafton publishes a case study whose headline number is 31 AI Overview citations rather than a ranking. Chicago's email specialists have not moved on any of the three, which is the whole shape of this page.
