Nitrosend vs Instantly.

Cold outbound is one job. The email your customers asked for is another.

TL;DR

Instantly is a cold outreach platform. It sends through unlimited mailboxes you connect from Google and Microsoft, warms them inside the product, rotates sends across them, and pulls every reply back into one inbox tagged by intent. A 450-million-contact lead database sits in the same tool. For prospecting to people who've never heard of you, it does that job well.

Nitrosend is an AI-native email platform, and it's sender-side. Campaigns, flows, segments, and transactional mail leave your own authenticated domain, and the platform is built to be driven by an agent end to end rather than clicked through a dashboard. Contacts are unlimited on every plan, including Free. The limit is scope: this is email to people who gave you their address. If the job is reaching strangers at volume, Instantly is the answer and we're not it.

Pricing math

What you actually pay.

The two ladders aren't the same shape. Instantly's Outreach subscription is one of three, billed separately from Credits and CRM, and the limit that usually binds on it is the uploaded-contact cap rather than the email allowance. Instantly's month-to-month price leads, with the annual equivalent in brackets.

Migration

How to switch (or run both).

This one is a split rather than a port. Instantly sends through mailboxes it connects on your behalf, so there's no sending key to carry across, and the upside is that you don't have to move the prospecting motion at all.

  1. Verify a sending domain in Nitrosend with DKIM and SPF, and make it a different domain or subdomain from the ones running cold outbound. Prospecting domains get burned on purpose. This one can't be.
  2. Export the contacts who replied or converted out of Instantly through its v2 REST API rather than by hand, then import them with nitro_import_contacts, consent status intact.
  3. Move one message type first. Build onboarding or a product announcement as a flow with nitro_compose_flow, and watch it for a week before anything else follows it.
  4. Leave the cold outreach where it is. The mailboxes, the warmup, and the Unibox stay on Instantly, because Nitrosend is sender-side and isn't trying to replace a reply inbox.
  5. Point the owned-audience sending at a transport you control. BYO sending keys on Pro and above route mail through your own provider account, so the domain and the IP are yours from the first send rather than borrowed. What BYO can't do is carry Instantly's sending reputation over. Connected mailboxes aren't a transport, so that history stays where it was built and the new path warms from scratch.
Honest credit

What Instantly does well.

Picking a tool is about fit. Here's what Instantly is genuinely good at.

  • Unlimited email accounts and unlimited warmup on every Outreach tier, including the entry one.
  • Warmup runs inside the product rather than through a second vendor, with real accounts opening and replying to build domain reputation.
  • Sends rotate across many connected mailboxes, which is the sending model cold outreach actually needs.
  • Unibox pulls replies from every connected mailbox into one place and tags them by intent.
  • Reply detection over IMAP stops a sequence the moment a prospect answers.
  • A 450-million-contact B2B lead database sits in the same tool as the sender, with search filters and enrichment across several providers.
  • An official hosted MCP server, 31 tools across campaigns, leads, email, analytics, and accounts, free with any subscription.
  • Destructive actions in that MCP are marked as such, which is the detail an agent operator notices.
  • SISR dedicated IP infrastructure on the top tier, which is what an agency running many clients wants.
  • Pre-warmed accounts and done-for-you services for teams that don't want to build sending infrastructure themselves.
What Nitrosend adds

Where we think we're better.

  • Unlimited contacts on every plan, including Free, so a list that grows without being mailed never moves the bill.
  • Campaigns, flows, segments, and transactional mail live in one platform, with the streams kept deliverability-isolated.
  • Sending leaves your own authenticated domain through a transport built for volume, rather than out of mailboxes capped at roughly thirty a day each.
  • MCP-first is an architecture, not an integration: every capability is an API endpoint and an MCP tool before it's a screen.
  • The MCP reaches flows, segments, templates, and approvals, not only the campaign and the send.
  • Deliverability, billing, and tests are tools too, and they're the three that usually stop an automation dead.
  • Transactional sends stay on the REST API, because a send that has to be fast shouldn't wait on a tool call.
  • A clean REST API and a CLI sit beside the MCP, so nobody is forced through an agent to get work done.
  • BYO sending keys on Pro and above route mail through Amazon SES, Resend, Postmark, Mailgun, or SendGrid, on a domain and IP you already control.
  • A published price from 500,000 to over 4,000,000 emails a month, with no quote to request.
Use case fit

When to pick which.

Pick Instantly if

You're sending cold, to people who've never heard of you, and you need mailbox rotation and warmup across dozens of inboxes to do it. It points the same way if you want reply triage and a lead database in the same tool that does the sending, or if you run outbound for several clients and want separate sending infrastructure per client. None of these are close calls. Nitrosend sits on the sending side of that line, so there's no version of it that does this job.

Pick Nitrosend if

Your email goes to people who gave you their address, and lifecycle and transactional mail are running together on a domain you own. It's the right call when you'd rather drive the platform through an agent than a dashboard, and when you don't want the size of your contact list deciding your bill. The clearest case is a team already running Instantly for prospecting with nowhere for onboarding sequences, product announcements, and receipts to live. Keep the outbound where it is. Put the owned-audience email here.

FAQ

Instantly vs Nitrosend - common questions.

What does Instantly's uploaded-contact cap actually limit?

It caps how many contacts can sit in the tool, not how many you mail in a month, and on most tiers it's the lower of the two ceilings: 1,000 uploaded contacts on Outreach Growth against a 5,000 email allowance, and 25,000 on Hypergrowth against 100,000. A list you loaded once and haven't mailed since still counts against it. Nitrosend prices the other way round: contacts are unlimited on every plan, including Free, and what you pay for is sends.

What does Instantly actually cost once the modules are added?

Outreach, Credits, and CRM are three separate subscriptions, so the Outreach price isn't what a working setup costs. Outreach opens at $47 a month for 5,000 emails and 1,000 uploaded contacts, and Credits, which is what buys access to the lead database, starts at the same $47. Instantly also sells pre-priced bundles that combine them.

Why do cold outreach and owned-audience email need separate domains?

Because a prospecting domain is consumable and the domain your customers recognise can't be. Sending to strangers earns complaints and blocks, that reputation attaches to the domain and its subdomains, and outbound teams buy lookalike domains precisely so there's something to retire when one burns. Receipts, onboarding, and campaigns to people who gave you their address have to land, so they go out from your real domain with its own DKIM and SPF records, kept clear of anything disposable.

Instantly has an MCP server too. What's actually different?

Where the surface came from. An agent layer added to a dashboard-first product is a projection of that dashboard, so it reaches what the dashboard reaches, and ours was built the other way round. Instantly's hosted MCP is real, it's free with a subscription, and it drives the outreach product: campaigns, leads, email, analytics, and accounts. Ours covers campaigns, flows, contacts, segments, templates, deliverability, billing, tests, and approvals, with transactional deliberately left on the REST API so a send that has to be fast never waits on a tool call.
