Migration

How to switch (or run both).

Nothing here is big-bang. SocketLabs keeps sending while you move, and both platforms can send from the same domain for as long as the overlap needs to run. Two things shape how that overlap works. BYO sending keys on Pro and above cover Amazon SES, Resend, Postmark, Mailgun, and SendGrid, and SocketLabs isn't one of them, so you can't run our platform on top of an existing SocketLabs account. And on Core you're on shared IPs, so there's no dedicated IP reputation of your own to carry anywhere either.

  1. Add and verify your sending domain in Nitrosend. DKIM and SPF records sit alongside SocketLabs' records, so both platforms can send from that domain during the overlap.
  2. Start with one low-stakes message type, a receipt or a password reset, sent with nitro_send_message. Watch it for a week before anything else moves.
  3. Export your suppression state before the campaign work starts. SocketLabs exposes a documented Suppression API, so bounces and complaints move across as data rather than being retyped by hand.
  4. Import contacts with nitro_import_contacts and rebuild anything scheduled as a flow with nitro_compose_flow. A relay has no flow builder to port, so this is usually the first time the sequence exists as one object.
  5. Run both in parallel and move traffic at your own pace.

When to pick which.

Pick SocketLabs if

You're sending at high volume and the analytics is the point: splitting traffic across subaccounts, routing streams with rules, or reporting across more than one sending provider at once. It's also the answer if you want a dedicated IP included rather than bought as an add-on, or if your escalation path has to end with a person on the phone. None of those are close calls.

Pick Nitrosend if

You're running marketing and transactional email and don't want two vendors, or you already draft, schedule, and check your email through an agent. The clearest case is the team whose sending is fine and whose problem is everything above the send: the campaign, the flow, the segment, and the approval that all still wait on somebody in a dashboard. Can Nitrosend replace SocketLabs for transactional email?

For outbound, yes. Single-recipient sends, status polling, and idempotency keys are all in the email API, with domain authentication and suppression handling alongside them. What doesn't come with it is the analytics depth: StreamScore, Spotlight, and cross-provider reporting have no equivalent here.

Can I keep sending through SocketLabs while I move to Nitrosend?

Not through BYO sending keys. Those cover Amazon SES, Resend, Postmark, Mailgun, and SendGrid, and SocketLabs isn't one of them. An overlap works instead: both platforms send from the same verified domain, and you move traffic across at your own pace.

Does Nitrosend have anything like StreamScore or Spotlight?

No. The reputation, complaint, and bounce data is readable by the same agent that sends the mail. If deliverability analytics is the reason for the purchase, SocketLabs is the answer and this page isn't going to argue otherwise.

Is SocketLabs good for marketing email?
