Marketing is expensive because most agencies still do the mechanical half by hand, and a retainer bills for those hours. One trend in AI is being completely agent-first in your work and connecting everything else to it, and the people doing it are "10Xing their productivity". That is what I rank for below.
1. Optimal
Optimal
Max Briese, Associate Director of Integrated Media, Optimal
- Best for
- Brands with real paid-media budgets
- Location
- 2000 East MLK Junior Boulevard, Austin, TX 78702
The largest Austin team on this list, and most of its AI belongs to the ad platforms. The one custom build is Volta Medical, where Optimal built AI and machine-learning models for each audience group Finn Partners targeted and cost per click came in 31 percent below the health industry average. For Plunge, paid purchase volume rose 972 percent year over year with AI-backed visuals and Meta's AI audience targeting, and an older case used Kenshoo Social workflow automation to copy Google Shopping campaigns into Pinterest.
Outside AI, Mazda's conversions on streaming TV inventory rose 40 percent, and several of its cases date to 2018 and 2019. The office is at 2000 East MLK Junior Boulevard, and 84 staff are in Austin on LinkedIn, among them Associate Director of Integrated Media Max Briese. It is a paid-media shop first: programmatic, streaming TV and paid social.
Take it for a real paid-media budget, and treat most of its AI as the ad platforms' own.
2. Siege Media
2Siege Media
Ross Hudgens, Founder / CEO, Siege Media
- Best for
- Content and AI-search visibility
- Location
- 1920 E. Riverside Dr #A-120, Austin, TX 78741, with offices in other cities
- AI stack
- BlueprintIQ (in-house)
An AI planning engine behind a content shop that keeps the writing human. Siege Media built BlueprintIQ, an internal AI engine that analyzes competitors, the client's site and hundreds of topics to build a content roadmap, and it uses AI for the commoditized parts of production, outlines and research, and says writing itself is rarely one of them. Its team page lists a Director, Automation, Drew Page. I agree with the split: "SEO driven content writing just fills the internet with kind of average mediocre nothingness", and I am hoping LLM search makes it go away.
The best result is Mentimeter, where ChatGPT accounted for 124K sessions over six months. Founder and CEO Ross Hudgens is one of 8 staff in Austin on LinkedIn, at 1920 E. Riverside Dr.
Take it for content and AI-search visibility; the automation is in planning, not in the writing.
3. (un)Common Logic
3(un)Common Logic
Barbara Cavness, CEO, (un)Common Logic
- Best for
- Mid-market ecommerce and lead-gen search
- Location
- 5926 Balcones Drive, Suite 130, Austin, TX 78731 (a different building from the 5900 Balcones registered-agent desk)
- Platforms
- Google Premier Partner (its own description)
- AI stack
- Google Natural Language AI, GA4 machine-learning models, Custom brand-voice model
Named AI workflows inside paid search and SEO. (un)Common Logic trains custom brand-voice models with AI, for example on a CEO's downloaded LinkedIn posts, and triggers automatic actions from Google Merchant Center data when a product's inventory runs too high. On paid media it uses Google Natural Language AI for SERP research and GA4 machine-learning models for reporting. When I spot AI copy tells like "an honestly?", I rewrite them in my own tone of voice, so a CEO's own posts are the right training set.
Its case studies show Clearly's Google Ads revenue up 132 percent and ROAS up 95 percent, and Reunion Tower's visibility in Google AI Overviews up 9x; the second is GEO, not automation. CEO Barbara Cavness leads 24 staff in Austin on LinkedIn, at 5926 Balcones Drive, Suite 130.
Take it for search with documented AI workflows; the AI works inside the process rather than as a product.
4. Blackhawk
4Blackhawk
Jonathan Windham, Chief Executive Officer / Founder, Blackhawk
- Best for
- Texas health, wellness and beauty businesses
- Location
- Austin headquarters stated on its site, with no street address printed
The clearest split here between AI work and human work. Blackhawk queries ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google every month about each client's business and category and tracks how the answers change, while AI drafts copy, creative and report numbers and the account lead writes the read. Its about page names a Head of AI, John Mann, who is in Austin. My view is that GEO is normal SEO plus asking AI agents specific queries and studying which URLs they cite as sources, which is what that monthly check does.
It publishes flat retainers, priced in the FAQ below. The case numbers, like Oubre Medical's 12 percent click-through rate and 90 percent impression share on Google Ads, are ad results, not AI ones. CEO and founder Jonathan Windham leads 17 staff in Austin on LinkedIn. Its site says HQ in Austin and prints no street address.
Take it for flat, published pricing with AI answer tracking included; the case numbers are not AI results.
5. Propellic
5Propellic
Brennen Bliss, Chief Executive Officer, Propellic
- Best for
- Travel and tourism brands
- Location
- Austin; the only street address printed is a mailbox-style unit, so no office address is given
Travel only, with daily AI-answer tracking. Propellic runs daily prompts across more than 50 AI scenarios to track brand mentions, sentiment and citations for travel clients, and its case list says TravelPass Group is rolling out an AI-driven booking platform with Propellic. The monitoring is visibility work rather than automation, and the booking platform is a rollout.
It is the narrowest specialist on this list. Thrifty Traveler's organic traffic rose 1,300 percent, and the same case list gives MAC Sports Travel 4x the lead volume at an 87 percent lower cost per lead, and Papillon 1,400 percent ROAS. Chief Executive Officer Brennen Bliss is one of 3 staff in Austin on LinkedIn, the thinnest local team here, with Director of Organic Emily Souydalay.
Take it if you are in travel; the AI work is visibility monitoring, and the Austin team is small.
6. Idea Peddler
6Idea Peddler
Aaron K. Heltsmith, Vice President of People & Culture, Idea Peddler
- Best for
- Destinations, resorts and tourism brands
- Location
- 1023 Springdale Road, Suite 4E, Austin, TX 78751
- AI stack
- TRACE AI media package, AI tourism dashboard
AI concentrated in one vertical, tourism. Idea Peddler says it built the first AI-driven tourism dashboard, sells TRACE, an AI media package, and has deployed AI ad units that hit 8x benchmark click-through rate in tourism campaigns. That 8x is its own benchmark claim with no named campaign attached. The named result on the same page is Visit Fredericksburg, with $3.6M in attributable revenue and a 35 percent RevPAR increase, and its case studies include Taos Ski Valley and Visit Fredericksburg.
Outside tourism it is a full-service ad agency, and the AI stays inside that one offer. It works from 1023 Springdale Road, Suite 4E, and 22 staff are in Austin on LinkedIn, among them Vice President of People and Culture Aaron K. Heltsmith and Creative Strategist and Account Director Ed Cohen. Neither is named as a founder or CEO.
Take it for tourism; outside that vertical it is a conventional full-service agency.
7. Fahrenheit Marketing
7Fahrenheit Marketing
Ricardo C., CEO, Fahrenheit Marketing
- Best for
- Austin businesses wanting an AI-first retainer
- Location
- Austin area, with no street address printed; fahrenheit.io redirects to the same site
- Platforms
- HubSpot certified team, HighLevel certified team
An AI-first retainer with thin public proof. Fahrenheit Marketing sells AI-driven lead scoring, nurture sequences and behavioral triggers, and states its team is HubSpot and HighLevel certified, on retainers that start at $3,500 a month.
The services menu is wide, from content to SEO to automation, and its case clients are anonymized. CEO Ricardo C., President Laurel Casas and Executive Vice President Colleen Cassady are among 10 staff in the Austin area on LinkedIn. It prints no street address, and fahrenheit.io redirects to the same site.
Take it for AI lead scoring and nurture; its headline AI results are anonymized, so ask for a named reference.
8. GLIDE
8GLIDE
Travis McAshan, Founder & CEO, GLIDE
- Best for
- Austin website rebuilds with SEO
- Location
- Austin; the 111 Congress Ave Suite 500 address it prints is shared with other firms, so no office address is given
- AI stack
- Phoebe AI (in-house brand assistant), AI-built SEO plugins
A web design studio with its own AI brand assistant. GLIDE built Phoebe AI, an in-house brand assistant trained for its clients, and its team page says its SEO lead has automated most SEO tasks with AI-built plugins and tools. Its AI case studies are product builds for clients, not marketing numbers, and website design is the center of the offer, with SEO beside it.
The marketing result is Chimp Haven, where key website events rose 47 percent, and its work page lists WP Engine and Circuit of the Americas among its clients. Founder and CEO Travis McAshan is one of 7 staff in Austin on LinkedIn.
Take it for a website rebuild; its AI case studies are product builds, not marketing results.
9. Directive
9Directive
Tanner Shaffer, Managing Partner, Co-Founder, Directive
- Best for
- B2B SaaS pipeline growth
- Location
- Headquartered in Orange County, California; Austin is one of six listed locations, with no street address
- AI stack
- Stratos (in-house AI intelligence platform)
The B2B SaaS specialist, with its own AI platform. Directive built Stratos, an AI-powered intelligence platform for B2B marketers, and it builds automated workflows that nurture and score leads. No client number on its site is tied to Stratos, and it also sells AI-search services, which are GEO.
The pipeline evidence is strong: WordPress VIP's opportunities rose 607 percent and cost per opportunity fell 73 percent. Directive is headquartered in Orange County, California, and Austin is one of six listed locations, with no street address. 12 staff are in Austin on LinkedIn, including Managing Partner and Co-Founder Tanner Shaffer and Head of PR and Communications Kimberly Deese. Hire it for a B2B pipeline measured in opportunities, not for a local Austin brand.
Take it for B2B SaaS pipeline; Austin is a satellite of an Orange County firm.
10. Q1Media
10Q1Media
Bill Wiemann, Chief Executive Officer, Q1Media
- Best for
- Higher ed, credit union and tourism media buying
- Location
- 8240 North Mopac Expressway, Suite 250, Austin, TX 78759
- AI stack
- ChatGPT o3 Deep Research (published script)
The most transparent AI claim on this list is a published prompt. Q1Media published its full script and prompt for Google Ads analysis with ChatGPT o3 Deep Research, and sells AI search optimization from Austin. No client result on its site is tied to either.
Its results are media buying: a subscription wine company at 400 percent return on ad spend and a large public university with 46 percent more conversions from search. At Bluethumb we assumed the platforms were "lying" about ROAS and halved the reported figures, and I read any return-on-spend claim the same way. Chief Executive Officer Bill Wiemann leads 48 staff in Austin on LinkedIn, the second-largest local team here, at 8240 North Mopac Expressway, Suite 250.
Take it for media buying from a large Austin team; its AI is a published method, not a client result.
11. Search Scientists
11Search Scientists
Karolina R., Co-Founder, Executive Director, Search Scientists
- Best for
- Established ecommerce brands on Google and Amazon ads
- Location
- 7509 Manchaca, Suite 201, Austin, TX 78745
- Platforms
- Google Premier Partner (its own description)
A small Austin PPC shop with an AI audit and a human editor. Search Scientists runs an AI system of more than 50 specialist analyses against client sites, and drafts content with AI that a human edits and fact-checks. It also states that it does not publish bulk AI content, and the audit is described but not tied to a client number.
Casely's Google Ads account scaled 4x with 5.1x more conversions, and Good Work Republic's revenue rose 399 percent in 7 months, and it describes itself as a Google Premier Partner. Co-Founder and Executive Director Karolina R. and PPC Strategist Michael Erickson Facchin are among 4 staff in Austin on LinkedIn, at 7509 Manchaca, Suite 201. It suits an established ecommerce brand on Google and Amazon ads.
Take it for ecommerce PPC from a small team; the AI audit is described, not tied to a result.
Also worth knowing
These Austin firms were considered and not ranked.
AICOADS has strong named AI workflows, a GoHighLevel voice agent and a Voiceflow chatbot with numbers, but it shows no Austin team beyond the founder and one other person. Level Nine Media sells an "AI Employee" marketing system for $497 a month, and the owner is its only person in Austin. White Wolf, Uwindi, Blank Box and Cyfrow have no Austin team beyond a founder, and Omniscient, Upthrust and Lumo have no Austin team.
Some sell AI-search visibility, which is GEO, not AI in delivery. INK has a Director of AI Strategy and a GEO and AI-visibility PR service, with no AI in delivery beyond narrative monitoring. Direction has a GEO service, no workflow and no AI-tied result. Coalition reports AI-SEO session results and is a Los Angeles firm. Impressive shows ChatGPT traffic growth and unexplained "proprietary tech". Complete SEO defines AI visibility as crawler access for GPTBot and similar bots. Workhorse sells AEO audits, and its automation is Yext data sync. Pierpont and Madcraft have a GEO or AEO line only.
Others describe no AI in client delivery. Practice Cafe automates review requests and call scoring, which is not AI. Geek Powered calls itself fully remote. TREW runs HubSpot workflows, not AI. Speedwork positions itself as "no bots". Mighty Citizen has an AI innovation role and no AI in client delivery. DIGITECH lists third-party AI SEO tools and has no case studies. LPC has email automation flows that are not AI. Mobile1st runs CRO programs without AI in delivery. NameStormers gives explicit anti-AI advice. JS Interactive positions itself as "human-first". Iconier, Brandastic, Digital DI, Lounge Lizard and SEO Insights have no Austin team.
Orbitly AI, Rteetech, BloomTech and Cognitiva have no verifiable team or published client work.
INSIDEA, ScaledOn, Apptension and Straight North have strong AI work and no Austin office or team.
How to choose between them
If you have a real paid-media budget and want a big local team, take Optimal, and treat its AI as the platforms'. If the job is content that gets cited by ChatGPT, Siege Media builds its own planning tooling; for search with documented AI workflows, (un)Common Logic. A health, wellness or beauty business that wants a published price and monthly AI-answer tracking should look at Blackhawk.
Travel brands have Propellic, and destinations and resorts have Idea Peddler. Fahrenheit Marketing is for AI lead scoring and nurture on HubSpot or HighLevel, GLIDE for a website rebuild with SEO, and Directive for a B2B SaaS pipeline. Q1Media buys media for universities, credit unions and tourism, and Search Scientists runs ecommerce PPC.
How this list is ranked
How this list is ranked
I score every marketing agency here on four criteria, for a total out of 50: AI automation out of 20, and specialization, published evidence and a real Austin team, each out of 10. Each card links the sources behind its score.
Nitrosend, which I co-founded, publishes this page. It is an email platform for agencies, not a marketing agency, and is not ranked.
FAQ
Optimal and Siege Media tie at the top, and they do different jobs. Optimal is the pick for paid media with the largest Austin team on this list, and Siege Media is the pick for content and AI-search visibility, with its own AI planning engine. From there the list splits by need: (un)Common Logic for search with named AI workflows, and Blackhawk for health and wellness businesses that want flat pricing.
The difference shows in what each one publishes. Optimal ties its one custom AI model to a 31 percent lower cost per click. Siege Media describes BlueprintIQ, the engine behind its content roadmaps. Blackhawk spells out where AI drafts and where a person writes the read. Read those three pages and you will know which one describes your problem.
Between $495 and $10,000 a month on retainer, before ad spend. Single-channel SEO and PPC management from Austin firms runs $495 to $850 a month, full retainers mostly run $2,750 to $6,500, and full-service engagements reach $10,000. Two of the eleven ranked firms publish a price, and the rest of the range comes from firms in the same research that do.
Blackhawk publishes flat Standard, Optimize and Growth retainers at $2,750, $4,250 and $5,750 a month, with ad spend separate. Fahrenheit Marketing's month-to-month retainers start at $3,500. Geek Powered Studios, a remote team with an Austin base, starts full-service marketing at $3,500 a month. Omniscient Digital, which prints an Austin address, starts full-service engagements at $10,000 a month. MassConvert prices local SEO at $1,500 to $3,500 a month and multi-location SEO at $3,500 to $8,000. The Kaanen Group charges $850 and $1,400 a month for SEO and from $500 for PPC. Blank Box Digital lists SEO at $745 a month and Google Ads management at $495 plus spend, and its own answer to what an Austin agency costs is $1,000 to $5,000 a month. Uwindi in Leander charges $750 and $1,500 a month for SEO. Speedwork manages LinkedIn Ads from $2,500, $5,000 or $10,000 a month by ad-spend band, and Mobile1st runs CRO programs from $1,000 a month.
AI-branded offers price differently. Level Nine Media sells an "AI Employee" marketing system for $497 a month and compares it to a $4,000 to $6,000 a month hire. Lumo AI Agency's plans are $1,200, $3,000 and $6,500 a month, AICOADS charges home-service businesses $800, $1,500 and $2,500, and Direction prices AI SEO at $3,000 and $6,000 a month. Level Nine's comparison to an in-house hire is the firm's own.
Look for one of four things: a named tool with a described function, a named workflow, a person with an AI or automation role on the team, or a case study that ties automation to a number. A banner or a benchmark with no named campaign is not evidence of the same weight.
Every AI point on this page links to one of those. Blackhawk says exactly where AI drafts and where a person writes, and Q1Media published the prompt itself. Siege Media's Mentimeter case study reports 124K ChatGPT sessions over six months.
On four criteria, for a total out of 50: AI automation out of 20, and specialization, published evidence and a real Austin team, each out of 10. Every AI point links to its source.
