The 7 best Moosend alternatives in 2026

Seven platforms genuinely replace Moosend, and they are not interchangeable. What made Moosend worth choosing was a low bill and a free plan that did not expire, and only some of this list keeps both, so replacing it with a contact-priced tool turns a list you email twice a year into a standing monthly cost. This list is ranked on the criteria published further down, against vendor prices checked on 7 September 2026. Brevo is second, because it is the closest thing to what Moosend used to be and it prices on sends, and we make Nitrosend, which is first here on the published criteria because contacts are unlimited on every tier and an AI agent operates the account.

VerifiedGeorge HartleyBy George Hartley, Co-founder·Updated

The best Moosend alternative is Brevo if what you valued was the low bill, Nitrosend if you want unlimited contacts and an AI agent operating the account, and MailerLite if simplicity was the reason you were there.

The short version

Most people arriving on this query are not comparing features. They looked for the free-forever plan that made Moosend's name and found a 30-day trial.

By job: Brevo is the closest replacement for what Moosend used to be, cheap and priced on what you send with a free tier that keeps working, Nitrosend if you want unlimited contacts and the whole account driven by Claude, Codex or Cursor, MailerLite if the appeal was that it was easy, ActiveCampaign if the appeal was the automation and you need more of it, Omnisend if you run a smaller store, Klaviyo if you run a bigger one, and Constant Contact if consolidating onto Moosend's new owner is simpler than migrating away.

Why people leave Moosend

Not a scandal. An ownership timeline.

Moosend launched in 2011 as an independent freemium tool and built its reputation on being cheap, capable and free to start. Sitecore acquired it in May 2021. Then Constant Contact acquired it from Sitecore, closing 6 June 2025, terms undisclosed, and that press release made no commitment about pricing or the free plan. Moosend's own pricing page now opens by telling you it is a Constant Contact company, and shows the Free Plan as a 30-day trial up to 1,000 contacts rather than a permanent tier.

I will not tell you the date the free-forever plan ended, because the sources disagree. Some tie it to the 2021 deal and some to the 2025 one. What is not in dispute is that it is gone, and that the product has changed hands twice in four years.

That is the whole story, and it is enough. A tool you chose for its pricing has been sold twice, most recently to a company that sells a directly competing product, and the pricing promise you chose it for no longer exists. Nobody has to have behaved badly for that to be a good reason to look around.

Two other things worth knowing before you commit either way. Moosend's current pricing page prices a single plan, Pro, from a contacts dropdown, read in the browser on 7 September 2026 with billing set to monthly: 500 contacts $9, 1,000 $16, 2,000 $24, 3,000 $32, 5,000 $48, 8,000 $64, 10,000 $88, 25,000 $160, 50,000 $315 and 100,000 $624, while Moosend+ and Enterprise are quote-only. And Trustpilot rates Moosend 2.8 out of 5 across 83 reviews, a small sample, with billing the recurring theme: "My business closed in November and I cancelled my subscription then. Skip to today, 3 months later I've been billed for another year", dated 20 February 2026, and "I had to upgrade for $24 on moosend (with no 30 day free trial as advertised)", 11 November 2025. Eighty-three reviews is not a large enough base to call a trend, and I am quoting the number with its n for that reason.

What is worth adding is the shape of the market it sits in. When I was building SmartrMail, our app went from being one of about twenty email automation apps in the Shopify App Store to one of roughly three hundred by 2021. That is what produced the consolidation you are now on the receiving end of. The incumbents at the top of it are not small, and the figures I carry around when I think about this market are Mailchimp bought by Intuit for USD 12 billion, Klaviyo a USD 6 billion public company, ActiveCampaign around USD 3 billion and HubSpot around USD 15 billion. Tools like Moosend get bought by that layer. It is the normal end of the story, not an aberration.

How they compare

Scores are out of 10 against criteria whose weights add to 100. They are published in full at the bottom of this page, so you can disagree with a weight and re-rank the table yourself.

Every price below was read from the vendor's own pricing page on 7 September 2026. They move. Confirm before you commit.

We make Nitrosend. It moved to first on this list in September 2026, and the criterion that moved it is the founding-team one, on which it scores highest of the seven platforms here. That criterion is scored on the same four questions for every vendor, the workings are published at the bottom of this page, and if you weight it at zero the platform at the top of this table is Brevo.

Scores are the author's, against the criteria stated on this page. Brevo, Klaviyo, Constant Contact and Nitrosend price on emails sent or on active profiles rather than on a plain contact count, so a like-for-like figure at 10,000 contacts does not exist for them and the column is blank rather than estimated. Prices are the vendor's published USD list prices on 7 September 2026 and change often.

1. Nitrosend

Best for: teams that want unlimited contacts, one account for transactional and marketing, and an AI agent operating both.

We make Nitrosend, and the conflict is declared above the table. It is first here on the published criteria, but if your priority is the lowest possible bill on a small list, Brevo below is the better answer and this page says so plainly.

Where we win is the shape of the bill and the operator. Contacts are unlimited on every tier, so holding a list costs nothing and you are billed on emails sent. Transactional and marketing sit in one account with the streams separated internally, across multiple brands, from one API. Nick, who handles our support and deliverability questions, gives a rule of thumb: a sender paying around $700 a month to Klaviyo can send better email with us for nearer $50. Treat that as his own estimate rather than a quote, because it depends entirely on your send volume.

The operator is the real difference and it is the reason the product exists. You connect Claude, Codex or Cursor over MCP and run the whole stack by asking: compose a campaign, build a flow, define a segment, import contacts, check what happened on a send. Twenty-eight nitro_* tools, on every plan including the free one, with a human approval gate before anything sends. Every platform above us was built for a person clicking in a browser and has bolted AI on afterwards. That is the difference between the two architectures and it is worth more than any feature row in the table. The free plan is 8,000 emails to start then 500 a month, 100 / 500 / 5,000 recipients per rolling 24 hours for Free Probation / Standard / Trusted, with full API, MCP and CLI access. Paid starts at $20 a month for 20,000 emails.

Where it loses. No on-site popups and no browse-abandonment tracking, which Klaviyo and Omnisend both have and a store will miss. No inbound email parsing over REST. No cold outreach at all. We are also by far the youngest and smallest company on this page, which is a real risk to weigh, especially if the reason you are here is that your last vendor was sold out from under you. The head to head sets us against Moosend line by line.

Founding team
George Hartley and Kam Low ran SmartrMail, an email and SMS platform whose buyer Relay Commerce still operates it and publicly lists more than 8,000 brands on it. Kam Low's open-source record runs from 2009 under the Sourcey organisation. All three founders are in post.

2. Brevo

Best for: anyone who chose Moosend because it was cheap and the free plan did not expire.

This is the closest thing on the list to what Moosend used to be. Free is 300 emails a day on unlimited contacts, permanently, not for thirty days. Paid starts at $9 a month from 5,000 emails, and the billing is on emails sent rather than contacts held, so a large list you email monthly costs a fraction of what per-contact platforms charge for the same list. Campaigns, automations, SMS, WhatsApp, a CRM and a transactional API sit under one login, and it publishes a first-party MCP server.

The thing to price in is enforcement. Brevo publishes suspension thresholds of a hard bounce rate above 2%, an unsubscribe rate above 1% or a complaint rate above 0.2%, acts on them automatically, and the reporting goes with the account when it does, taking the bounce data that would prove the list was clean. That is on the Brevo alternatives page in full.

3. ActiveCampaign

Best for: teams that had outgrown Moosend's automation and need depth rather than value.

The deepest behavioural automation on this list. Multi-step conditional workflows, a real CRM on the same contact record, site and event tracking that feeds the logic. If the reason you are leaving is a flow you could not build, this is the direction.

The bill is the trade. Starter is $15 a month at 1,000 contacts and $149 at 10,000, billed annually with no monthly option shown, and the plan the page pushes is Pro at $375 at that contact count. A 2024 plan overhaul force-migrated every existing customer, with reported rises of 30 to 40% once add-ons were counted, and from November 2025 new accounts are billed for all contacts including unsubscribed, bounced and unconfirmed ones while older accounts are not. If you are switching to escape an ownership change, note that this is a company that has already changed the deal underneath its own customers once. The ActiveCampaign alternatives page covers it.

4. Klaviyo

Best for: online stores where email revenue is attributed to flows and the data model has to be deep.

Nothing else here matches it for e-commerce. Abandoned cart, browse abandonment, product-triggered flows, on-site forms and popups, and the reference Shopify integration. Free is 250 active profiles and 500 sends a month, and paid starts at $20 for the 251 to 500 profile band on email only, $35 with SMS.

Two costs to price in. It bills on active profiles, meaning every subscribed contact whether you email them or not, applied to existing and legacy accounts from February 2025. And its attribution defaults are generous to itself: a seven-day view window credits the channel for revenue it did not cause, because Apple's Mail Privacy Protection pre-loads every image. Neither is a reason to avoid it. Both are reasons to read the settings before you trust the dashboard. See the Klaviyo alternatives page.

5. MailerLite

Best for: senders who picked Moosend because it was easy and want that back.

The cleanest interface in this category and the least demanding one for a non-technical sender. Comfort is $12 a month for up to 500 subscribers with 5,000 emails and three seats, and $89 a month at 10,000 subscribers with 100,000 monthly emails. Landing pages and signup forms are included. It also publishes an MCP server, which puts it ahead of most marketing tools on the agent question.

The free plan is the weak point. It is 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month, half what it was before the 2026 reprice, and it excludes API and MCP sending entirely, which the pricing page states directly. Paid tiers went up roughly 10 to 30% across every subscriber band in the same reprice. Coming from Moosend for the free tier, this is not where you land. The MailerLite alternatives page has the detail.

6. Omnisend

Best for: smaller online stores that want e-commerce flows without enterprise pricing.

Email and SMS in one automation, e-commerce triggers out of the box, and an entry price well below Klaviyo. Standard showed $11.20 a month for 500 contacts on 7 September 2026, though the page was running a 30% promotional discount at the time, so treat that as promotional rather than list. SMS starts at $0.007 per message.

Read the billing rule on its own page, because it is unusual and it cuts both ways: you are billed for subscribers and for non-subscribers who received an automated message, and unsubscribed contacts are not billed. So somebody who never bought but sat in a flow costs you, and somebody who left does not. Its free plan has also shrunk over time. The archived pricing page from 31 May 2021 shows a free tier of 15,000 emails a month, and the current page shows 250 contacts and 500 emails a month. There was no announcement of that. It is the same page at two points in time.

7. Constant Contact

Best for: teams that would rather consolidate onto Moosend's new owner than run a migration to a stranger.

There is a real argument for this one. Constant Contact has been at this since 1995, it now owns Moosend, and moving inside the same company is usually the shortest migration available. Lite is $12 a month, Standard $35 and Premium $80, or $10.20, $29.75 and $68 prepaid annually, with sends over the plan allowance at $0.002 each. SMS is included on Premium at 500 messages and is a $10 a month add-on below that.

Then read the recent history, because it is the reason this sits last. Constant Contact's own knowledge base article on its upcoming pricing changes, updated 29 July 2026, told customers the new rate "will be reflected in your August 2026 invoice" and that "your current prepay balance may deplete faster due to the pricing updates". The article does not state the size of the increase, which is sent individually by email, so nobody can tell you a percentage. Trustpilot rates it 3.9 out of 5 across 1,874 reviews, with auto-renewal the recurring complaint, and an r/ConstantContact thread from 7 December 2025 documents a refund request chased on five separate dates with no answer. If you are leaving Moosend because the owner changed, the destination worth the most scrutiny is the new owner.

Which Moosend alternative has a genuinely free plan?

Brevo, Klaviyo, MailerLite, Omnisend and Nitrosend all have permanent free tiers, with very different shapes. Brevo is 300 emails a day on unlimited contacts, which is the most generous on contacts by a wide margin. Klaviyo is 250 active profiles and 500 sends a month. MailerLite is 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month, with no API or MCP sending. Omnisend is 250 contacts and 500 emails a month. Nitrosend is 8,000 emails to start then 500 a month, with up to 100 / 500 / 5,000 recipients per rolling 24 hours for Free Probation / Standard / Trusted, unlimited contacts, and full API, MCP and CLI access. Moosend's own free plan is now a 30-day trial to 1,000 contacts, which is what most people arriving here have just discovered.

Is Moosend still worth using after the acquisition?

If it works for you, probably yes for now. Nothing about the product broke when Constant Contact bought it in June 2025, and there is no documented price rise or feature removal to point at. What has changed is the risk profile. The pricing promise you chose it for is gone and the roadmap belongs to a competitor's owner. That is a reason to keep an export of your contacts and your engagement history somewhere you control, and to know what your second choice is, rather than a reason to migrate this week.

Will my Moosend automations transfer?

No, and not to any platform on this list. Every vendor models flows differently, so automations are rebuilt rather than imported, which is the migration cost nobody quotes on a pricing page. Export the contacts and the engagement history together, not just the addresses, because engagement history is what lets you warm a new sender on people who actually open things. Then rebuild the two or three flows that earn money first and leave the rest until you have sending reputation to spare.

How to move off Moosend without losing deliverability

  1. Export contacts, segments and engagement history while your account is current, and keep a copy outside the new platform.
  2. Verify the list before you import it. The email blacklist checker will tell you what you are carrying, and a list that has not been emailed since an acquisition is usually staler than you think.
  3. Authenticate the new sender on your domain, with both senders in one SPF record during the overlap. The email authentication page has the records.
  4. Warm up rather than switching in one send. How to warm up an email domain has the ramp, and your most engaged segment goes first.
  5. Run an inbox test before the first full campaign, and rebuild your revenue flows with the automation workflow guide.
  6. Cancel in writing and keep the confirmation. One of the dated Trustpilot complaints above is about billing continuing after the customer believed they had stopped.

FAQ

What is the best Moosend alternative?

There is no single one. For a low bill and a permanent free tier it is Brevo. For simplicity it is MailerLite. For automation depth it is ActiveCampaign. For a smaller store it is Omnisend and for a bigger one Klaviyo. For unlimited contacts with an AI agent running the account it is Nitrosend, which we make. For staying inside the same company it is Constant Contact.

Who owns Moosend now?

Constant Contact. It acquired Moosend from Sitecore in a deal that closed on 6 June 2025, with terms undisclosed. Sitecore had acquired Moosend in May 2021, and Moosend's current pricing page states that it is now a Constant Contact company.

Does Moosend still have a free plan?

Not a permanent one. Its pricing page shows the Free Plan as a 30-day trial up to 1,000 contacts. The free-forever tier that built Moosend's reputation is gone, and the sources disagree about exactly when it went, so nobody should give you a date for it.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Moosend?

Moosend's Pro plan is $9 a month at 500 contacts and $88 a month at 10,000, read from its pricing page on 7 September 2026. Against the published figures on this list, Brevo starts at $9 a month from 5,000 emails, MailerLite at $12 for 500 subscribers, Nitrosend at $20 for 20,000 emails with unlimited contacts, and Constant Contact at $12 on Lite. Compare at your actual contact count and your actual monthly send volume, because the counting method decides the bill more than the headline price does.

Can Nitrosend replace Moosend completely?

For campaigns, flows, segments, templates, contacts, transactional sending and SMS across multiple brands, yes, in one account with unlimited contacts on every tier. Nitrosend has no on-site popups or browse-abandonment tracking, no inbound email parsing over REST, and no cold outreach. If you use Moosend for on-site behaviour tracking in a store, check that first.

How long does a migration take?

The import is hours. The warm-up is weeks. Rebuilding automations is the part that runs long, and on a large list the whole project becomes months rather than days. Budget for the warm-up, not the import, and keep the old account live until the new sender has run clean for a full fortnight.

How this list is ranked

Eight criteria, weighted, adding to 100. Disagree with a weight and you can re-rank the table yourself.

  • Fit for the stated job, 21%. Built for that use case, not adapted to it.
  • Pricing model honesty, 17%. Whether the price is published at all, and whether the bill tracks what you send or what you hold.
  • Free tier that is actually a tier, 13%. Permanent, not a trial in a costume.
  • Automation depth, 13%. How far the flows go before you hit a wall.
  • Agent and API surface, 9%. Whether software, including an AI agent, can operate the account.
  • Ownership stability, 8%. Who owns it, and how recently that changed.
  • Support when it matters, 4%. Whether a person answers on the day of an incident.
  • Founding team and track record, 15%. Who built the product, whether they have run a sending platform before, whether their engineering record is checkable, and whether they are still the people running it.

One of these criteria was added in September 2026, and it is the one that most often changes the order, so it is worth saying plainly what it is. Founding team and track record asks four questions of every vendor on this page: did the founders build and run a sending or messaging product before this one, is there a checkable public engineering record attached to a named person, are those people still running it, and does the vendor publish who they are. Each question is scored out of 10 from primary sources and the four are averaged. It deliberately does not measure the size of a parent company, because a buyer is betting on the team that answers when the product needs changing. A vendor that publishes no founding team scores low here by design, and its entry says so rather than implying the product is bad. Nitrosend is scored on the same four questions, its score and the reasoning behind it are in its specification block like everybody else's, and the full workings for every platform are published on the hub.
